Bowen Interiors became involved at the early stages of the project management phase, through careful and detailed consultation with both Kane Constructions earlier, and later Billard Leece Partnership representatives.  Working though all elements of the package, and sourcing from all over the globe, we were able to provide a full and detailed solution for every furniture requirement in the facility, customizing to specific finishes throughout.

University of Melbourne had some very specific requirements in each piece, with height adjustable custom shaped learning tables, custom power and data requirements, breakout ottoman areas and laboratory storage units all being developed in conjunction with Billard Leece Partnership as part of the solution on this project.

Our unique project management approach to this entire package enabled all parties to be assured that each would achieve their desired outcomes – project delivery on time and on budget for the builder, architectural design elements that fitted the project for the architect, and customized functional furniture for the university that met their unique requirements.

Being a significant high profile project for all parties – builder, architect and university, it was essential to ensure that all views were able to align with the end outcome. Working closely with Kane Constructions, our project team was able to achieve a staged delivery approach, ensuring a streamlined project with minimal disruption.

Part of the requirement was to ensure that all parties were able to achieve their outcomes, and by our coordinated approach and working with the architect, Bowen Interiors was able to ensure that the finished project was still within the design parameters, but delivered ahead of budget and ahead of schedule.

Green Star Rating & INDEA Award Nomination

The project – lead by architects Billiard Leece Partnership – has recently been awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating from Green Building Council of Australia, and was also nominated for the prestigious INDE Awards, which showcases the Asia Pacific’s most progressive buildings, spaces and objects.

2020 Sustainability Award

University of Melbourne Veterinary School Werribee has also been shortlisted for the 2020 Sustainability Awards in the Education and Research category.
